Mediation

Lydia George is a Rule 31 trained Family Law Mediator. Lydia offers mediation services for all types of family matters including divorce, parenting plans and child support, spousal support and division of assets and liabilities.

“My Mission is to provide professional mediation services which will enable families and divorcing spouses to resolve their disputes in a less stressful, less costly and timely manner.”

Mediation is an informal process where the mediator helps the parties reach a resolution of their issues. The Mediator identifies the important issues, clarifies misunderstandings, explores solutions by offering suggestions and negotiates the terms of the settlement, but the parties make the decisions. The Mediator then reduces the terms of settlement to writing in the form of parenting plans, marital dissolution agreements or settlement agreements.

The benefits of Mediation include:

  • The parties have control over the resolution of their own issues
  • Disputes can usually be settled promptly without waiting months to be set on a contested trial docket
  • Mediation costs are significantly less than contested trials
  • Mediation promotes better relationships of parents, which can also help them in the future when dealing with other issues of raising children
  • The impact of divorce on children is significantly less when the parents are able to get along;
  • Mediation is private and confidential, as opposed to trials, which are held in open court.

“I believe that divorcing parties and parents do not want to subject themselves and their children to the trauma involved in contested litigation.” If you would like to have control over the outcome of your situation, as well as save time and money, then mediation is for you. Lydia will be happy to talk to you about all aspects of mediation and answer your questions. We serve Murfreesboro, LaVergne, and all of Rutherford county.
